Wheel Safety Precautions
To prevent accidents and ensure safe use, be sure to read the safety precautions, the items listed on the inspection sheet, and the instruction manual of the machine to be used in advance.
-
Precautions regarding work environment, clothing, and protective equipment
- Workers should wear protective equipment such as protective glasses, dust masks, safety shoes, and protective caps.
- Wheels may spark during use. Do not use under conditions where there is a risk of ignition or explosion.
-
Precautions before use
- When used in a wet process, be very careful not to interrupt the grinding fluid.
- Do not perform any additional processing that would change the shape of the wheel. If you need to change the shape, please contact us.
- Do not use the wheel if its shape and dimensions do not conform to the grinding machine specified dimensions (wheel outer diameter, thickness, and hole diameter).
- If the wheel base metal material is iron-based, remove the rust inhibitor applied.
- If the wheel's base metal material is ceramics-based, perform a sound test by lightly striking the side of the wheel with a wooden hammer before installation.
- Wheels are designed for grinding on the periphery, on the sides, etc., depending on how they are used. Please confirm that the wheel is suitable for the intended use.
-
Precautions for installation
- Always turn the power "OFF" when installing or removing wheels from the grinder.
- If the wheel base material is ceramics, sandwich the attached paper or other cushioning material between both sides of the wheel to prevent cracking or breaking when the flange is mounted.
- When fitting a wheel into a flange, do not force it into place, for example by hitting it with a hammer.
- If the wheel base material is ceramics-based, mount the wheel with the SUN mark positioned directly above and the wheel perpendicular to the spindle.
- Flanges and other mounting screws should be securely tightened with equal torque at each diagonal position to prevent loosening.
-
Precautions in Grinding Operations
- Never allow your hand or any part of your body to touch the wheel while it is spinning. Also, in the case of dry grinding, the wheel may be hot after grinding, so do not touch it with your hands or any part of your body.
- Never use the wheel in a range exceeding the maximum operating peripheral speed indicated on the wheel inspection sheet and the allowable rotational speed of the grinding machine spindle.
- If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, immediately remove the wheel from the work material and stop the machine.
- Before starting work, perform a trial run with no load for 1 to 3 minutes to check that the direction of wheel rotation is normal and that there is no runout, etc.
- When processing wet, make sure that the grinding fluid is fully applied to the grinding point.
- Do not cut too deeply when the wheel contacts the work material. Also, do not use the wheel continuously under overload conditions.
- Do not allow wheels to burn when used dry.
-
Precautions for storage and handling
- After use, remove the wheels and store them in a dry place where they will not be dropped or subjected to impact.
- If the wheel base metal material is iron-based, apply a rust inhibitor before storage.
Precautions for using cutting tools
When using our various cutting tools, please pay attention to the following items.
- Since the tool is vulnerable to static shock, protect the cutting edge when handling.
- Do not start or stop the machine while the tool is applied to the work material.
- Re-sharpen tools as soon as possible. Forced cutting with worn cutting edges will lead to edge loss and shorten tool life.
Construction Product Safety Precautions
*Danger
Be sure to properly install the protective cover (wheel guard) specified by the machine manufacturer. If the wheel is damaged, flying debris may directly hit the wheel and cause serious injury.
Never use zigzag cutting, curved cutting, diagonal cutting (without a guide), cogging, or side use. These uses may damage the wheel and cause serious injury.
Never touch the rotating wheel with your hand or body. There is a danger of serious injury.
*WARNING
Workers must always wear protective equipment such as dust-proof glasses, safety shoes, and protective caps. If the wheel is damaged, there is a risk of serious injury from direct contact with debris.
Workers must wear protective equipment such as dust masks and earplugs. Inhalation of dust may damage respiratory organs such as the throat and lungs, and the noise may cause ear damage.
